Purity, in all matters

PURITY

When Paul advised Timothy on matters of purity, it was not only on sexual matters but thoughts as well.  These elements are not only for the young and young at heart, it applies to all ages involving purity matters.  “Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.” (Romans 13:13 NIV) Just as the daylight is the beginning of a new life, darkness encompasses the work of Satan.  We must behave the same in darkness as we behave in the light of day. 

Demands of society today dictate our actions more than ever.  Every motivational speaker and marketing piece tells us we should do whatever it takes to make us happy and fulfilled, moral or immoral.  Depends upon who is defining the moral code. 

The brokenness of the society we live in we can accept as the hand we’ve been dealt.  But, if we chose to live with an allegiance to God rather than ourselves, will we do it within God’s confines?  If we disagree with one’s set of morals are we to judge them?  No, it’s not our place to judge, we need to pray for them, love our neighbor as we are commanded, engage them in conversation.

My challenge to you is this, if you are living a double life, look deep into your heart and clean it up.  You owe it to God, your family, and you owe it to yourself.  Be doer's of the Word, of your word.  If you are condemning others for their choices, love on them, lean on them with conversation, you may be a greater influence in their life than you think.
