Faith; God is always present

FAITH

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NIV) Faith brings things hope for to reality, such as the believer’s rewards at the return of Christ.

We know God is always present and all powerful, yet in tough times it is hard to trust Him.  That can be the stopping off point for many and that is the season we need Him most.  Faith is the resurrection moment when the impossible becomes possible.  It’s holding true to His words in the toughest of times despite the circumstances faced.  Sure, this kind of faith brings along with it fear, doubt and comes with its fair share of struggle that builds character, teaches us, and shapes us into our God ordained characters He meant for us to be.

Too many times we give up before we ever start because we feel the task at hand is way too big.  I’m certainly guilty of that on numerous occasions.  We must remember God is looking for faithfulness not greatness, it’s easy to be consumed by seeking greatness and letting faithfulness slip by the wayside.  A God sized dream should scare you, because we aren’t big enough to handle it alone.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.  Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” (Matthew 13:31 NIV) Jesus used this parable to explain the size of the kingdom of heaven.  The kingdom of heaven was small at first, just like any great new idea that starts with a mustard seed thought, once planted, cultivated, and nurtured it grows exponentially.

Greatness is not what God is seeking, He’s already achieved that.  He wants us to love and be faithful.  We just need to do our part He has called us to do, even if it seems insignificant to us at the time.  We many just be that mustard seed.

I leave you with two challenges today.  When in doubt, ask him to help you trust Him when life is difficult.  Seriously, there must be something you’ve been thinking about stepping out to do, but you’ve backed out when fear and doubt stepped in.  Hold on to your faith, step out and give it a try.
